A friend shared this with me and it’s an importa A friend shared this with me and it’s an important reminder for all of us. Fighting for climate action and environmental justice must also be the fight for racial justice.

Repost from @subversive.thread:
“Climate change (crisis) is white supremacy. There’s really no other way to put it, but the way most people talk about climate change we are led to believe we all have an equal part in creating the capitalist nightmare we live in. That’s a lie.
✨
The unsustainable and extractive nature of capitalism grew directly from the ideological and material foundations of European colonization. We cannot hold the entire human species responsible for that. It's victim blaming.
✨
And the vast majority of waste is produced by the same people and institutions who hold power. Fighting for our planet, the health of our land, our food, our homes, our communities, is where the fight against capitalism and white supremacy collide.
✨
Any movement for environmental justice must also be a fight for racial justice because BI&POC are the ones who disproportionately bear the weight of climate change (just like any crisis under capitalism).”

Take action now. Call to demand that an independen Take action now. Call to demand that an independent prosecutor under the Attorney General’s authority prosecute the officers responsible for George Floyd’s murder rather than the County Attorney. To quote ACLU Minnesota: “As so often happens with county attorneys, the Hennepin County Attorney’s office has failed to deliver this justice in the past. That failure that has further eroded trust between the Black community and Minneapolis law enforcement. At a time when mending this trust is most essential, the ACLU of Minnesota is calling for the prosecution of the officers involved in George Floyd’s death be taken out of the County Attorney’s hands.“
